Hospitality is the essential element to your holiday party

When I was young, my family’s home was frequently the gathering place for holidays and other celebrations. Watching my parents host these events, I learned the core of hospitality: creating an experience with the guests in mind.

At my mother’s dinner parties, she would serve Café Du Monde coffee, decaf coffee, tea, and even Bailey’s Irish Cream with dessert — even though she herself avoided caffeine, dairy, and alcohol. If a visitor to their home preferred spirits, my father, a scotch drinker, always remembered your favorite drink and made sure to have it on hand for your next visit, likely a premium brand.
