Untitled - For Autumn
The air is cooler than the months before,
Festivals are happening; we try and cram in more.
But doing more in autumn, you’ll miss the point of it all.
We should feel at ease in this season; some call fall.
Nature’s pure moments offering splendor, no flaws,
Reminding us of God’s power, majesty, and awe.
Long walks on Sunday while drinking warm cider.
Drizzling rain and chilly winds - our busy minds — quieter.
In this slow, quiet space, lovers love and snuggle,
Beneath a fireplace glow, warm hues of orange and yellow.
The harvest moon boldly takes center stage, perfecting the night.
It grabs your attention; you stare and don’t fight.
This season of change is a gift from God,
Our minds have time to think and unwind.
The world becomes jealous and wants us to decline.
Because this gift prunes and peels away layers to reveal what can be.
We remember our humanity, and can again believe.
So welcome back, autumn, to your will; I bend.
Trusting my mistakes are forgotten to make way for my blessings,
I will embrace and attend.
